About me
A Life In The Arts
As a musician my lifetime ambition has been to compose lyrics and music. In my youth I played woodwinds and while I was somewhat accomplished it left me hollow as all I was doing was playing other's compositions. I received my first guitar at the age of twelve ( a Yamaha FJ which I still own). I took a few lessons to get going but have made it a point not to focus on learning other's songs. This is especially critical to me when I am composing. While understanding it is impossible not to have some influence, as we are all walking encyclopedias of modern and classical music.
I focus on heartfelt lyrics that pair with melodies that I hope speak to people and maybe speak to their own experiences.
When I am not focused on music I enjoy painting in watercolors and professionally I design and build custom homes. If these tunes speak to you drop me an email I would love to hear from you.

So I thought I would add some clarity here about my process. While I classify my work as " Singer Songwriter" the truth is I can't and shouldn't sing. I was in choir as a kid but they always put a loud tenor next to me much to my confusion. With that being said I took some influence by the band Zero Seven and how they would feature different vocalists for different projects (Sia being one of their most noted). Here is the incredibly talented Tina Dico singing "Home", https://open.spotify.com/track/2BQh5XCqJATEHbYfTEKgXn?si=e33111ab882c47f6
Several years ago I wrote a song called "This Moments Peak". The song and melody came to me in a dream, and I ran down to my keyboard at three in the am to save it from being forgotten in the morning fog. This was during the pullout from Afganistan and in my dream a little girl was playing this melody on a toy piano in a bombed out house. The song was first recorded with the incredibly talented Tara-Lynn Sharrock ( I will feature her in a future segment), but I felt it also had a certain latin sensability. It is about those moments in life that wake you at night with uncertainty and loss of compass. After listening to several bilingual artists I came across Emmy Smith of Buenos Aires Argentina. She sings with a lovely argentine accent and tambor that shoots straight to your heart and still gives me goose bumps when I hear it. Her version Of the song is called D'este Momento and it did win runner up in the International Song Writers Competition in 2023. Anyways here it is hope you enjoy.

Tara-Lynn Sharrock
Tara-Lynn and I have been working together for the last four years or so. She resides in Melbourne Australia and we connect through an online music production site where we found each other. Though we have never been in the same room together I feel as comfortable musically with Tara-Lynn as if we had always worked together. I send her my Lyrics and song with some suggestions about syncopation and leave the magic to her. Her voice is clear and soulful, her harmonies stay with you and echo through your head. She has had a successful career and continues to provide vocals and co productions for other artists as well. Here is Tara-lynn singing my song "Step Into The Sun" .
